The Kitchen Sink Too … Habitat Re-Stores

The Habitat for Humanity Re-Stores are among the few established outlets for used building materials in Saskatchewan. Their purpose is to generate funds to support Habitat's building programs, while reducing the amount of material going to landfill.

The Re-Stores accept most building materials: windows, doors, hardware, lumber, mis-tint paint, tools, lighting fixtures and even the kitchen sink! They sort the materials and price it below market level. Re-Stores also receive off-spec or slightly damaged materials from retail sellers.

The Re-Stores also do some deconstruction work, taking apart buildings carefully to recover all the usable components. Saskatchewan has four Re-Stores:
