Our Virtual Repair Café will be a zoom event that gives advice and instructions to help Saskatchewan residents tackle repairing their broken items. Repair Cafés encourage us to consider repairing items rather than throwing them away.
Date: April 10th, 2021
Time: 11am-2pm
Location: Anywhere in the world!
Our volunteers will offer advice in the following categories:
- Computers
- Audio/Visual Equipment
- Wooden Items
- Clothing and Textiles
- Darning
- Electrical
- General Repairs
- Piano Repairs
- Natural Fur Textiles
If you are unsure if your item is a fit, get in touch or register your item including a lot of detail and we will try to find a volunteer to help you out.
For the best outcome, please register your item by April 2nd so that we can match you with a volunteer that has the expertise you need. We will give you a time slot between 11am-2pm on April 10th and a Zoom link to the Virtual Repair Café to meet up with your expert.
We will also be hosting three workshops and a mending hour April 10th:
- 11:00-12:00 Darning Tutorial - Check out this tutorial if you've always wanted to learn how to mend your knits.
- 12:00-1:00 Sewing Machine Basics - If you have some mending to do but haven't quite figured out your sewing machine, this workshop will give you the basics. All ages of machines are welcome!
- 12:30-1:30 - Shoe Maintenance - Join Ashley for a workshop on basic shoe maintenance and what makes a durable and repairable shoe.
- 1:00-2:00 Mending Hour - Do you have some mending to do but would like some company? One of our mending volunteers will be hosting a social mending hour. Feel free to ask questions or just get that project done you've been meaning to work on!
