Tour 1: SaskTel Centre, SGI Salvage

SaskTel CentreSasktel Centre is Western Canada's most versatile and exciting trade, sports and entertainment centre. The facility is home to the WHL Saskatoon Blades and also plays host to major concerts, rodeos, ice shows, circuses, tradeshows and national and international events.  Sasktel Centre has implemented a variety of strategic environmental initiatives to save energy and water and divert waste from the landfill.  The tour explores the facility and takes a look at  how Sasktel Centre got to where they are today and the next steps they will be embarking on to reduce their ecological footprint.

Since its inception in 1947, SGI Salvage has been a leader in automobile recycling in Canada, focusing on the introduction of new and innovative ways to help create a cleaner, healthier environment.

In the past year, SGI Salvage  has recycled:

  • over 7 million pounds of steel
  • 100,000 cleaned, inspected and ready-to-use parts
  • 95,000 litres of oil and other fluids
  • 3,400 tires
  • 1,400 pounds of Freon
  • 300 grams of mercury
