On March 24, Regina City Council approved a plan for recycling in multi-family units.
Rather than have a recycling program that is city managed and delivered by the private sector or city managed and operated, the City is leaving it up to property owners to find a private company to provide the on-site service.
Property owners are also required to provide recycling for at least the same materials as are included in the single-family curbside program and to provide adequate storage for recyclable materials. They must file a waste management plan with the city that includes recycling service.
Property managers have until January 1, 2015 to put a recycling program into place.
