SUMA to Administer Recycling Infrastructure Grant Program

The Ministry of Environment is partnering with SUMA to manage a grant to support municipal recycling infrastructure in Saskatchewan in preparation for the upcoming Multi-Material Recycling Program.

SUMA is now accepting applications from urban and rural muncipalities and regional waste management authorities for eligible projects. Program guidelines and application form are on the program page on SUMA's website.

Eligible Projects

The Recycling Equipment Grant may be used to purchase bins, trailers, bailers and scales. The grant covers 40 per cent of the equipment cost while the applicants cover 60 per cent of the purchasing.

Local governments collaborating with their neighbours to develop inter-municipal recycling services will get priority.

Examples of eligible projects:

  •   Large bins for depot collection
  •   Balers
  •   Trailers for collection and shipping of recyclables
  •   Mobile scale to weigh recyclables

The deadline for applications is June 30, 2014.
