SWRC Update: Compost Field Day May 29

SWRC Update: Compost Field Day May 29

Eighteen people, mainly from Yorkton and the surrounding region, gathered at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton to learn more about composting. It was a good group, eager to learn and exchange views. A highlight was the Ministry of Environment presentation about the rules for composting operations. This is information that hasn’t really existed before, so it was useful. We also learned composting basics, the components of healthy soil and the history of Yorkton’s compost program. In the afternoon, the group managed to not get too wet as we toured Yorkton’s compost operation and also the Poier C&D yard across the road. Both were interesting. Presentations and photos are posted on our website.
