SWRC Update: Waste Reduction Week in Canada is coming Oct 16-22

Waste reduction Week is just about here. This year we are proud to launch a series of composting videos and some informative (and tasty) live events.

Starting on Oct 16th we will be releasing a series of seven short 60 second videos featuring the basics of composting. Topics include:

Choosing a compost bin
Backyard composting
Trench composting
How to use finished compost
Vermi compost
Bokashi composting
Composting in winter

Watch for them to be released on our Facebook page. You will also be able to access the videos from the compost section of our website any time after they are released during Waste Reduction Week.

Thanks to the four partners involved in this project: The Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council, The City of Saskatoon, the City of Regina and the City of North Battleford.

Live events during Waste Reduction Week:

In partnership with Steep Hill Food Coop the SWRC will be co-hosting two free workshops in Saskatoon. Both of them will be held at J S Wood Branch Library, 1801 Lansdowne Ave, Saskatoon.

Rubbish: Dinner and a Movie

We are so thrilled with the response to our Rubbish dinner this year. So far we have sold 50% more tickets than last year! We are looking forward to a great dinner with local food and great conversation about food waste.

We are also excited to be showing the brand new documentary WASTED: The Story of Food Waste at the event.

You can see more about the event here.

There is lots going on nationally for Waste Reduction Week. Be sure to check out the national website at wrwcanada.com.
